Community Outreach
Leo UMC is engaged in many ongoing community outreach programs. We encourage our members and friends to be in ministry to the church, the community, and to each other. For this reason, we try to be a community church; a church that provides opportunities for the community at-large to step inside our open doors.
Here are just some of the ongoing outreach ministries at Leo UMC:

Missions Outreach Ministries
It is our desire to bring people to Christ through the example and teachings of Christ Jesus. How better to do that than through service to others.
In addition to supporting many local ministries with our time and financial resources, Leo UMC also provides these ongoing Missions Outreach ministries:
Prayer Shawl Ministry
This is a gathering of ladies from the congregation and community who
knit or crochet Prayer Shawls for those in need of a tangible reminder
that they are being prayed for. Shawls console those who are grieving,
comfort those who are ill, bring hope to those who are in despair. This
ministry meets every third Tuesday at noon September - May.
Community Food Bank
In conjunction with the Asociated Churches, the Food Bank at Leo UMC
is available to assist anyone in Cedar Creek Township in need of food.
The food bank is operated by loving volunteers and serves by
appointment. To request assistance, please call the church office at
(260) 627-2161, extension 371.
Revolution of Hope
This is a group that tries its best to "further the kingdom of God by
spreading the love that comes through being God's hands and feet."
They try to do whatever they can whenever they can to provide hope to
the world around them by helping those who could use a hand, feeding
the hungry, and spreading the radical love of Jesus. Please join us if
your relationship with Jesus has given you a huge heart for people!
Revive
Revive is a mission trip organized by the Fort Wayne District of the
United Methodist Church for Jr. and Sr. High Students that takes place
for 3 days and 2 nights right here in Fort Wayne! Revive participants
will partake in a variety of service projects in our own community,
including such things as running a vacation bible school at an inner city
church, organizing food for food banks, and painting homes for the
elderly or disabled.
Missionary Covenant
Rev. James (Jim) Doepken is assigned to the Alaska United Methodist
Conference where he serves as pastor of Girdwood Chapel UMC in
Girdwood, Alaska. Living and working in Alaska has its unique
challenges. The Alaska UM Conference covers an area twice the size
of Texas and has 27 churches and 4,000 members. Some of the
mission stations can only be reached by boat, plane, or dog sled.
Temperatures can vary as much as 160 degrees in some areas. The
extremes of daylight and darkness (depending upon the time of year)
add to the sense of stress and isolation. For additional information,
please visit Jim's website.
Youth Mission Trip
This summer our senior high and college students will minister in
Nashville, TN. To learn more about this exciting opportunity to be
God's hands and feet, visit our student ministries website.
