The following is a list and descriptions of some of the many Ministries offered by the Leo United Methodist Church.

Alpha Ministry
Alpha is for anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith.  Questions are discussed such as:
What is the meaning of life? 
What happens when we die? 
What relevance does Jesus have for our lives? 
How do we deal with guilt?

Alpha is about learning and laughter, people meeting together and helping one another.  Adults of all ages are welcome.  In an atmosphere of fun and fellowship people lean about the basics fo the Christian faith.

Alpha is held at Leo United Methodist Church two times a year.  Each session is ten weeks in length and includes one-day retreat.  Each meeting consists of a meal, a video presentation  and time of discussion in a small group.

Stephen Ministry
Everyone goes through difficult times.  Having someone to care, to listen , to share God's love with you can help get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness you may be experiencing.  A Stephen Minister is trianed to do just that; come along side with one on one caring.  Leo United Methodist Church has an active Stephen Ministry.

Hospitality Ministry
It is the goal of the Leo United Methodist Church to make every guest to out church feel welcome and wanted.  There is a large network of people in place each Sunday to give guests every opportunity to see Christ at work within our congregation.

Fellowship Ministries

Fellowship ministries are events that happen throughout the year that promoste followship as well as outreach.  Please check the calendar for times and dates of special events.  The following is a list of a few of the special events that we enjoy holding each year.

Wednesday Evening Dinners
These dinners are provided every Wednesday during the Fall/Winter?spring. A minimal donation is asked for to cover the cost of the meals. These meals provide a wonderful time of fellowship with families and friends. Dinner is served from 5:30 - 6:30P.M.

Fish Fry
Our annual fish fry is held each fall and is a wonderful outreach to the community.

Mystery Dinner
Each fall we hold a mystery dinner which is a fun filled evening which consists of a wonderfun dinner intermixed with a who-done-it play.  Lots of laughs are heard as each table works together to solve the mystery.


Adult Sunday School
We have many choices of topics in our Adult Sunday School ministry. All of the classes meet year round and have a real combination of spiritual growth, fellowship, life application and some even include breakfast. There is a range of age groups from Young Adults to Senior Adults.

Adult Bible Studies
There are a variety of Bible Studies offered throughout the year. Disciple Bible Study has been on going. We have a study called Mom’s Matter, a Tuesday morning ladies Bible Study and also seasonal studies pertaining to Lent and Advent. New studies are always beginning as the need arises.

Senior Adult Luncheon
The 2nd Thursday of each month we have a luncheon for any one who is 55 years of age or older. A light lunch is served and is followed by some entertainment or guest speakers. This is an opportunity for members of this church and the community to join together once a month and enjoy an afternoon of fellowship. We do request a donation of $3.00 per person to offset the cost of the meal. Lunch is served at 12 Noon.

Christian Life Development

Sunday School
(Sundays, 9:45am-10:45am)
Classes are available for all children 3 years old through 12th grade. Sunday school is offered year round.  The classes are lead by volenteer leaders who have a real love for God and enjoy using their gifts to teach the love of Jesus Christ to these young Children.

Nursery
We have nursey care available during both Worship services on Dunday mornings.  Our nursey is staffed by volunteers who have a calling ofr the ministry and thoroughly enjoy spending time taking care of GOd's litlest angels.

Activity Room
Children ages 3 years old through the 1st grade go to the Activity Room after the Children's Sermon.  Our Activity Room is staffed by volunteers who understand the younger children need to have their worship experience on a more basic level with more freedom to move and talk.  Time is spent teaching God's love and expressing it through dicsussion , songs or crafts.

Men's Groups

Kid's Club
Kid's Club is our mid-week program for children between the ages of 3 years old through the 6th grade.  This program is held in two 8 - 10 week sessions and begins in the Fall and runs until Spring.  Kid's from this church and the community meet on Wednesday evenings.

Vacation Bible School
Jesus Help You Power Up! was the theme for this year's Vacation Bible School program.  Vacation Bible School is a fun-packed week of Bible stories, music, games and funactivities for children between the ages of 3 years old through the 6th grade.

Senior Ministries

Christians In Action
CIA's
The CIA's is a fellowship group for children who are in the 5th & 6th grades.  They meet once a month and do a variety of activities from bowling to serving meals at the Rescue Mission.  The initials CIA stand for 'Christians In Action'.

Camps
Summer camps are something that many of our children look forward to all year.  There are a large variety of interests covered by the various camps offered.  The main benefit of these camps is the results of spiritual growth that is evident in the children's lives.

Emmaus:

The Emmaus Community at Leo is a group of people who have the shared experience of having been on a Emmaus Walk. If you are interested in being part of an Emmaus weekend, please call the Church office, or email us.

An Emmaus weekend is for those who want to deepen their faith experience through a 4 day weekend of prayer and care.

 

Small Group Studies:

There are several short term as well as on going study groups within the life of the Church.

Sunday School class for adults. You can chose one in your age group or one around topics. The following is a list of our adult classes and their descriptions:

   

Young Adults
Room 102

This class mostly includes young adults that have graduated from high school but are still in college or fall within that age range.  They spend most of their time talking about current affairs.
 
Friendship Class
Room 117
This class enjoys feeding their stomach as they feed their faith.  They spend a food portion of their time in spiritual discussions with an emphasis on friendship and support for each other.
 

Circle of Joy
Room 116

The Circle of Joy offers a lesson structure that allows each attendee to choose their level of participation.  The Material is typically Christian life focused and  bible based.  Typically, the group is in the mid-life stage. (beyond young children)  This class encourages support of other class members, the church and beyond through prayer and helping hands.  Each lesson is closed with concerns and prayers while holding hands in a circle of joy.
 
Faithfinders
Room 111
This class consists of young married couples who have small children.  They study a variety of Biblical topics.
 
Pathfinders
Room 101
This class consists of younger married couples who have small children and study a variety of Biblical topics.
 
Bible Seekers
Room 118
This class is a group of folks who want to learn more detail of the scriptures.  This is a very relaxed class and they welcome anyone who wishes to join them.
 

Inquirer's
Room 120

This group of adults varies in age and spends most of their Sunday School time discussing current affairs.
 
Sunday Seminars
Room 119
Topical studies are offered every few months that run 4 to 6 weeks.  This is done so that anyone, even those involved in other Sunday School classes has the opportunity to learn more about a topic they are interested in.

It is our mission to provide a life changing atmosphere for the youth so that they are able to deepen their relationship with Christ and are well equipped to go out into the world, wherever that may be, and lead others to Christ.
 

Disciple Bible Study is a 32 week course that beginnings with Genesis and ends with Revelations. In this course, there is a time to study, share thoughts and ideas. There is homework of about 1 to 2 hours per day, as well as a 2 and a half-hour class time each week. Disciple Usually begins in the fall and continues into the spring.

Missions
 

The Food Bank:

The food bank is open by appointment for those in Cedar Creek Township.

Call the Church office to receive assistance: 260-627-2161.

We are an extension of Associated Churches of Allen Country. We accept donations of dry food items or monetary donations to purchase perishable items.

Missionary:

Rev. James Doepken is the missionary that Leo UMC helps to support.  Rev. Doepken's mission is to help other missionaries gain support for their mission in the world. Through his great work, people in the local churches are able to gain insight and information about how their monies provide help to reach into the world.

 

Local Missions:

Local Missions raises funds and provides education opportunity for missions in the Allen Country area such as the Charis House (a shelter for women and children), Associated Churches ministries, and the Rescue Mission (a shelter and recovery program for men).

 

National Missions:

National Missions raises funds and provides education opportunities for missions throughout the United States, through working with the United Methodist Church in disaster relief, as well as, other United Methodist Mission sites in the US. Those sites are determined on a yearly and/or season basis depending on need.

 

International Missions:

International Missions raises funds and provides education opportunities for missions through out the world. UMCOR (the United Methodist Commission on Relief) helps provide food, shelter and medicine for people throughout the world.
