Our
Philosophy |
| |
We believe that all children
are unique and special and that they will develop at their own
rate. Our program offers a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate.
Our goal is to make the child’s first school experience a
positive, happy one. We provide a balance of quiet and active times
with experiences which help children develop in the following areas:
|
• Motor
Skills - Large motor activities contribute to physical strength,
body coordination, eye-hand coordination, and basic body movements.
Small motor activities promote finger and hand dexterity, strength,
and coordination. • Social Skills - Children learn to cooperate and to respect
other persons and their property. • Emotional Development - Children learn to be away from parents,
to become more independent, and how to deal with emotions. • Spiritual - We do not teach Methodist doctrine - we are non-denominational.
We do provide a Christian setting. We do stress the Christian perspective rather
than the commercial views of Christmas and Easter. • Language Arts - The children participate in various activities that help
develop their speaking and listening skills. • Cognitive Learning - Opportunities are presented that allow children
to learn math, science, and alphabet concepts through “hands-on” experiences,
using real, actual objects. • Art - Focuses on the process, rather than the product, to encourage creativity. • Music - In addition to classroom music, the Children meet with a music
teacher once a week. • Snack Time - Parents take turns sending in daily snack item. We stress
good nutrition. |
