Where Things Stand
This is an historic time in the history of our church. On February 19th, our congregation voted to leave the United Methodist Church by an overwhelming margin. That began a time consuming and cumbersome process to fulfill the legal and contractual requirements to leave. Thanks to our tireless leadership team and to the glory of God, that process was completed and on July 1st, we were officially no longer a part of the United Methodist Church. While we have chosen to follow God down a different path, we wish our brothers and sisters who remain in the United Methodist Church Godspeed in their ministry, and we pray God’s blessing on our former denomination. Since July 1st, much has happened. Our congregation has voted to join the Global Methodist Church, a more traditional expression of our Wesleyan heritage. In addition, we’ve chosen a new name. We are now known as Leo Methodist Church. We are excited for the opportunity to share God’s love and to express it using our Wesleyan heritage as a platform to do so.
